NEW YORK ORCHESTRAS entertainment have been very busy this summer working with fantastic wedding planners and performing at some of the finest wedding venues in the USA. Our musicians, wedding bands and DJs have performed in Hotels and lofts in New York City, mansions on Long Island and Upstate New York, on the beaches of the Hamptons, the shores of Lake Champlain, the banks of the Hudson, in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and the Green Mountains of Vermont. It is our pleasure to share some of them with you.
To start off, we have done several events in Vermont at two different locations:
Hildene is the former Lincoln family estate owned by the president’s son. Set in the Green Mountains of Manchester, VT. It is now an historic site that hosts weddings. The views from the gardens where wedding ceremonies are held are spectacular! Cocktails are served at the main house while the reception is held in a tent adjacent to the mansion. The band Central Park will perform there again in September and October. www.hildene.org
Shelburne Farms is quite a bit further north just south of Burlington, VT. The property is set along the coast of Lake Champlain with spectacular views of the Adirondack Mountains. Weddings are held in The Coach Barn. With a wedding ceremony in part I of the barn, European style dining in part II, the dancing took place in part III that borders the stables – former stables, there are no horses there anymore. The bride and groom met at the University of Vermont where the band Phish was formed. So, of course we had to oblige them to a couple of Phish and Grateful Dead songs. This party did not have typical wedding song repertoire requests.

Oheka Castle is the 2nd largest private home in the USA owned by the Melius family. You can catch views of the castle on the TV show ‘Royal Pains’. If you want to be the “king & queen of the castle” for a day, this is the only place to be. There was a string quartet performing classical music for the garden ceremony, the jazz trio playing Gatsby era standards in the lounge for cocktails and a 12-piece wedding band/orchestra in the main ballroom for dancing. Since performing at the wedding of Kelly Melius, our company has naturally been recommended to scores of Oheka brides.

The Plaza Hotel If dancing on one of the most famous dance floors in the world and walking where the rich and famous and kings and queens have walked strikes your fancy, The Plaza is a great option. With balconies and gorgeous décor, staging and lighting handled by Bentley-Meeker, the grand ballroom looked fabulous (and the sound was even better). The12-piece band combined with 8 violins to form a 20-piece orchestra. When the bride and groom danced to Frank Sinatra, sung by Freddy Martin (of Freddy Martin & The Martinis) for their special dance, real violins played the string parts. Many of the songs requested came from the playlist of THE Royal wedding.

Pridwin Hotel is located on Shelter Island which is an island between the north and south forks of eastern long island. The north fork is famous for being the home to many vineyards while the south fork is famous for the Hamptons and Montauk. Pridwin has views overlooking the Peconic Bay. As the band was rocking out guests witnessed an amazing sunset.

Locusts on Hudson is a private estate and retreat on the banks of the Hudson River owned by renowned hotelier André Balazs. When we arrived the party was still going on from the rehearsal dinner on day one. The bride and groom rented the estate for the weekend and had 25 guests stay with them at the mansion. Day two was the actual wedding and day three was the poolside brunch.

Midtown Loft & Terrace in midtown Manhattan, host’s rooftop wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours with incredible New York City views – the terrace. One flight down to the main wedding reception in, you guessed it, the loft. This high-ceiling loft was decked out with funky colored furniture and bright floral designs to contrast the all-white floor-to-ceiling paint. This bride was the maid of honor at her friend’s wedding in 2008. She sent us an email promising to hire Central Park Orchestra to perform at her wedding, when she “finds a groom”. Well, she kept her promise.

Woodloch Pines is a family resort nestled in the Pocono Mountains in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Here the wedding ceremony takes place on a private lake, the cocktail hour on an outdoor deck and the reception takes place inside the Inn at Woodloch. The Inn has all glass on one wall of the ballroom that also let’s you view the lake.
